Chicken Rub Recipe

Learn how to smoke a chicken with this incredible chicken rub recipe!
For best results brine your chicken for around 12 hours in a simple brine of water, salt and apple juice. After 12 hours, remove chicken from brine, discard brine and pat chicken dry. Then follow the directions below.

Chicken Rub Ingredients:

* 1/4 cup sugar
* 2 tablespoons paprika
* 1 tablespoon onion powder
* 2 tablespoons seasoned salt
* 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
* 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
* 1/2 tablespoon lemon pepper
* 1 tablespoon sage, dried
* 1/2 teaspoon basil, dried
* 1/2 teaspoon rosemary, dried
* 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Combine all ingredients and rub chicken thoroughly with mixture inside and out. Rub under the skin, but do not remove the skin. Wrap your chicken tightly in plastic wrap and store in fridge in on a plate over night. Smoke chicken at 220 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 hours or until internal breast temp is 165 degrees.
